Lent at Leeds Minster

Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent on 18 February. We are offering a full programme of discipleship groups, worship and music to sustain us and anyone who wishes to join in with us as we prepare to commemorate Christ’s death and celebrate his resurrection. Everyone is welcome.

Discipleship groups

During the five weeks of Lent (22 February, 1,8,15,22 March) we hold groups where anyone who is interested can meet with others to share and discuss ideas about Christian living, following a prescribed course.

This year we are offering three groups: one focussing on the Gospel of St Matthew, a second focussing on the habits and patterns of life associated with discipleship, and the third following a course based around the film Wicked ! Find out more and choose a group…

We offer a simple lunch at 12.15pm on Sundays followed by a choice of groups until 2pm. There is a sign-up sheet where you can volunteer to bring soup and bread. The resurrection of Jesus proclaims that our normal world-order is turned upside down.

The powerful are brought low, and Love - God's Love, in all the vulnerability and weakness displayed in Jesus' death - is shown to be the key to life instead.

God calls us by name to live in and by this love. Nothing else matters.

Stillness in the City

We’re excited to present this short documentary about the history of the Minster by local historian Catherine Warr.

You can also see Catherine’s video about our bells and the history of bellringing.
